Assistant Teacher Award

We are proud to be one of very few dance schools in the UK able to offer the RAD’s Assistant Teacher Award, a programme aimed at students aged 14-18 who wish to learn more about dance teaching.

Course Structure:

Students complete 60 hours of practical dance teaching assisting in classes with us supported throughout by Principal, Chloe, who is an Approved Tutor for the programme. The timings for this can be flexible around the student’s availability.

During this time, students work towards the achievement of 12 learning objectives related to dance teaching and dance teaching assisting. Regular feedback is given throughout the course to aid students’ progression.

Towards the end of the course, students deliver a short presentation, reflecting on the skills they have gained and setting goals for the future.

Upon successful completion of the course, students gain the Assistant Teacher Award from the RAD, along with an official certificate and report of their achievement.

Benefits to studying the programme:

Students gain a range of transferrable skills to boost further study and employment applications and gain vital work experience to include on their CV. Skills gained may include confidence, leadership, teamwork and organisation to name but a few. Students also gain an understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion, as appropriate to the dance teaching profession.

Those who have gained the Assistant Teacher Award receive a discount on future RAD Teaching Qualifications.

Fees:

The fee for the course is £100.00, in addition to a £30.00 registration fee. The £100.00 fee is refundable if the student decides to complete another year of volunteer dance teaching assisting with us, attending a minimum of three classes a week with at least 90% attendance.
